The Need For Speed

video

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running red lights, nearly hitting pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up one-way streets. Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground.

Enjoy!

A Father Deployed. His Ultimate Sacrifice!

video

This video brings honor and thanks to all military families for the sacrifices they've made. Dave is a husband, father, and soldier and is being deployed. It is evident the sacrifice being made by his entire family. We also recognize that many "Moms" have to leave their families because of deployment, so we dedicate this film to you as well. Our country needs, respects, and thanks you for your many sacrifices. We love you!

Memorial Day And The Real American Idol!

May 25th is Memorial Day, a day in which Americans from all races, all religions, all cultures come together as a nation united to honor those brave men and women who have served in the military. I am a veteran who served in the United States Navy and served a tour of duty in Vietnam, a war in which politicians lied, anti-war protesters rioted and most unfortunate, Americans that turned their backs on those who returned. Over 5,800 men and women never returned home. They never returned home to their families. They never returned home to enjoy the exact freedoms that they fought for. In their honor, a large black granite wall exists with theirs names inscribed. Names of hundreds who were held as Prisoners of War,or Missing in Action. Names of those who this Country forgot. Names of those who this Country failed.

The American serviceman goes where he or she is told. They live in primitive conditions, receive little or no sleep, and have to react to the most serious of conditions at a moments notice, if even that long. The American serviceman fights to defend the freedoms that we have the privilege of living in. They sacrifice of themselves in order to keep us free and safe. Like members of the militarises from centuries ago, many of these men and women will once again not return home. They will give the ultimate sacrifice because they were keeping America free and their deaths should not, and will not be forgotten. Take a moment and pray for them. Take a moment away from your free time and say a prayer for them as they cope with the loneliness, fear, fatigue, the violence of war, and being away from their loved one. Pray for their families to be comforted as they receive the news of yet another hero has died. Pray for America and its leaders to take the stand to defend this great and mighty Country. Pray that America never again forgets, for these are the true "American Idols."

So You Think You Can Dance?

video

This 1944 act is a real show stopper featuring The Ross Sisters, Aggie, Maggie, and Elmira. The title, Solid Potato Salad, is from the 1944 MGM musical, Broadway Rhythm. It gets better (almost bizarre) as it progresses, and wait till you see how the sisters exit the stage at the end of their performance. The whole act is absolutely amazing to watch!

United States of Entertainment

Whether or not you see eye-to-eye with President Obama, we all should agree that he is the President of Entertainment, our Celebrity In Chief. It amazes us how Obama unlike any other President that we know of has taken the limelight of all the media outlets, including the tabloids. It seems that some media groups are more concerned about how the drapes are placed at the White House, or how tight Obama's tight glowing abs are while vacationing shirtless on Hawaii's beaches.

Don't you think the media should focus on the real issues at hand? We've even heard networks call President Obama the chosen one, even the Messiah! All we can say is; Reality Check Please!

Radio, The Internet, And You!

Here at WOW.FM, we're a non-profit radio station owned by God Works! Inc. which operates from a dumpy little building next to the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas. Well not really, but we thought it sounded cool anyway!

Our main goal is to be able to reach out and touch as many listeners as we can worldwide through the Internet with our music and message. This is an exciting time for Internet radio stations because of the shift in the way people listen to today's broadcast media according to a Boston University Professor.

Mass Communications is going to the Internet and within the next few years, the Internet will act as the main hub for all media outlets. Wi-Fi will be featured in most cars, mobile phones, homes and business' globally speaking, and will capture the hearts of advertising agencies worldwide because of the already Hugh listening audience. Even Arbitron, the company that rates radio stations across the US, rates internet radio as a part of their listening cume audience.

The quality of sound such as you hear on WOW.FM is beyond even CD quality. With today's technologies, we can bring you unsurpassed audio that will rival even the strongest critic. We're proud to bring you a 24 hour music format unlike you've never really heard before. Just make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash installed on your computer: (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?promoid=DXLUJ). Most newer PC's have it already, so no worries!

Whether you love the internet or not, the internet has changed the way we listen, view, and conduct personal and business transactions on a daily basis, and it's only the beginning!

Check us out and please remember that we rely on your financial support that keeps us paying the bills and staying on the air. We relize that these are tough times for everybody, so any amount given is appreciated and will used to help meet month to month expenses.

We wanted WOW.FM to be listener supported because after so many years in broadcasting, we know that radio is a personal matter, and our station can never stand alone without the support of our WOW.FM family, which is you!

Our Best!
